The group where FIC began has
been in existence since 1994 and has grown to over 120 members. Here are some tips that have helped the group to remain
intact. |
 |
General Information |
- Pray continually for God's wisdom and guidance.
- In support of true Christian beliefs, encourage EVERYONE to attend your meetings - especially nonbelievers
- and do not discriminate for any reason. The purpose for FIC is to unify people in the Church and Family of God by uniting
people in the workplace of all denominations, ages, races, sex, and status.
- Don't let people get side-tracked during your meetings to debate their differences in religious beliefs,
theology, and doctrine. Otherwise, Satan can use this as an attempt to divide and destroy your group. Instead, always stay
focused on the purpose for FIC (as described in the "Our Purpose" section of this website) and encourage those who want to
discuss doctrines to do so on their own time, away from the group.
- Each time a new person comes to your meetings, have them sign your "Group Sign-up Sheet" as shown in this
website. Then give them a copy of your current list of members and the FIC website address so they can read more about the
purpose for FIC.
- If your group outgrows your meeting room you may want to divide your group and start a second one on another
date with a different leader. That will prevent your group from getting so large that you lose the opportunity to share with
one another on a close, personal level.
- Included in this website is a camera-ready logo for you to use in case your group is interested in printing
or embroidering t-shirts... or whatever. To find a company to help you do this, refer to the "screen printing, embroidery,
or emblems" sections in your Yellow Pages.
Things to Do and Talk About
-
Begin and end every meeting in prayer.
-
Take turns introducing yourselves. Tell what department
you work in and share a little bit about yourself (i.e., your birthplace, family, hobbies, what church you attend, the department
you work in, the number of years you've been at the company, why you came to FIC, etc.) As new people join your group, take
time to do this for them as well. This will make them feel comfortable and more at home with the group, and will enable older
members to get to know the newer ones.
-
Ask for prayer requests, pray for those in need,
and pray for your company.
-
Ask for praise reports and for people to share
answers to prayer.
-
Have people share their testimonies and talk about
their relationships with God.
-
Talk about any miracles members have heard about
or experienced.
-
Talk about favorite Bible characters, stories,
and/or verses, and explain why they are favorites.
-
Talk about the attributes of God (i.e., His love,
goodness, mercy, forgiveness, faithfulness, patience, etc.) and why we should be thankful and praise Him for each.
-
Read verses from the Bible and talk about how
they are relevant in our lives today - especially at work.
-
Talk about current events and news articles that
affect Christians.
-
Use your Bible concordance or dictionary to look
up words and scriptures that pertain to situations in your workplace and daily lives (i.e., patience, perseverance, gossip,
integrity, respect for authority, etc.) and discuss them. Share one another's successes and challenges. THE POSSIBILITIES
ARE ENDLESS!
-
Listen to Christian tapes or watch videos and
discuss them.
-
Share Christian books that members have read.
-
Share a recent sermon, Bible study, or information
from a Christian seminar, conference, or retreat. Be careful to promote subjects and not individual churches.
-
Describe some of the ways God speaks to us and share personal
experiences where He spoke in ways that deeply affected someone's life.
