Friends in Christ (FIC) was founded in 1994 by a
woman who worked as a marketing communications manager at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems in Mountain View, California.
For about a year, she felt the Lord telling her that it was time to break down denominational walls and bring Christians together
in the workplace. So she started a Christian fellowship group that met once a week in a conference room next to the company
cafeteria, during their lunch hour.
When the group at Silicon Graphics first started, only a few people attended.
But since then, the group has grown to over 120 members, and still exists today.
Over time, word began to spread about
the group. People from other churches and companies in Silicon Valley started to inquire about how to start a group of their
own. In response, FIC's founder created free "Start-Up Kits" and mailed them to all Christians who were interested. She also
began advertising in Christian publications such as "Charisma Magazine," "Ministries Today," and "The California Christian
Times." Shortly thereafter, FIC groups began to spring up in different states and other countries.
Today, people from
29 states in the U.S. and 10 nations have requested information to start groups, and numbers continue to grow. Miraculously,
what started out as a workplace ministry in Mountain View, California has now spread to places all over the world and is no
longer confined to the workplace. God is now leading people to start groups wherever they're at - in their homes, in churches,
rented buildings, jails, and prisons. Some groups meet and don't even have a roof over their heads. But God is calling and
people are answering the call.
Therefore, we invite you to become a part of what God is doing in this growing ministry.
If you've always wanted to be a minister but could never get away from your full time job to do it, now's your chance to minister
where you are! You can continue to do what you're doing and be a servant of God as well!
